Vishwesh Negi a 2002-batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer has been appointed as India's next Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran.

- Negi is currently serving as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), and will soon take charge in Tehran.
- India and Iran keep up diplomatic relations through their embassies in New Delhi and Tehran.
- The two countries work together across trade, energy, regional security, connectivity and cultural exchanges.
- Rudra Gaurav Shresth has held the post of India's Ambassador to Iran since May 2023.
