In June 2025, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, along with Union Minister of State Dr Jitendra Singh from the Ministry of Science and Technology, laid the foundation stone for India’s first green data centre. The data centre is located at Sahibabad in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, and involves an estimated investment of around one thousand crore rupees.
The foundation ceremony was part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Central Electronics Limited, marking fifty years of the PSU’s contribution to India's electronics and renewable energy sectors.
Project Details:
Point one. The new data centre, called CEL-ESDS Green Data Centre, is a joint initiative between Ghaziabad-based Central Electronics Limited and Nashik-based ESDS Software Solution Limited. The goal is to strengthen digital infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh.
Point two. It will be a Tier three grade uptime-compliant facility with a power capacity of thirty megawatts, forty gigabits per second connectivity, and two hundred high-density racks on each floor.
Point three. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed during the event between CEL and Multi Infra, an engineering, procurement, and construction company. The agreement includes the development of a two hundred megawatt solar module project.
