- Location: On the banks of the Periyar River, at the foot of the Western Ghats in Ernakulam, Kerala; about 38km from Aluva and 44km from Cochin International Airport.
- Established: 1983 (on Dr. Salim Ali’s recommendation), Kerala’s first bird sanctuary.
