Saudi Arabia and 13 other countries have announced the formation of a Multinational Maritime Defence Alliance to strengthen maritime security and protect freedom of navigation in the Red Sea, Bab al-Mandeb Strait and Gulf of Aden.

- 14 countries have joined the alliance so far, while more countries may join in the future.
- Members include Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Pakistan, Qatar, Türkiye, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Djibouti, Somalia, Sudan, Yemen, Comoros and Kuwait.
- The alliance will focus on sharing information and intelligence, joint naval exercises, operational planning and maritime defence.
