Why in News?
Indian badminton men's doubles pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty won the 2026 China Masters Super 750 title in Shenzhen, China, defeating the home pair He Jiting and Ren Xiangyu in the final. The victory made them the first Indian players to win the China Masters, which has been held since 2005.
Historic Victory
- Satwik-Chirag defeated the Chinese pair 11-21, 21-13, 21-17, completing a strong comeback after losing the opening game.
- This was their third final appearance at the China Masters. They had finished runners-up in 2023 and 2025. They had also reached the semi-finals in 2019 and 2024.
- The victory came just before the 2026 Asian Games, giving the duo a major confidence boost.
- The pair will defend the men's doubles gold medal they won at the 2023 Asian Games.
