Why in News?
President Droupadi Murmu conferred the Sangeet Natak Akademi Fellowships and Awards for 2024 and 2025 on 115 artists at a ceremony held on 13 August 2026 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.

- The awards recognise contributions to music, dance, drama, folk and tribal arts, puppetry and theatre.
- The Sangeet Natak Akademi Awards have been given since 1952.
- A total of 115 artists were honoured, including 7 Akademi Fellows (Akademi Ratna) and 108 Akademi Awardees (Akademi Puraskar).
- Akademi Fellowship: ₹3 lakh, Tamrapatra and Angavastram.
- Akademi Award: ₹1 lakh, Tamrapatra and Angavastram.
- The awardees come from different States and Union Territories.
- The selections were made by the General Council of the Sangeet Natak Akademi in March 2026.
