The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship constituted a National Steering Committee for the PM SETU Scheme.
The scheme aims to upgrade Industrial Training Institutes and improve employability.

● PM SETU stands for Pradhan Mantri Skilling and Employability through Upgraded ITIs.
● The scheme was approved by the Union Cabinet in 2025 with a budget of ₹60,000 crore.
● It aims to align skill development with modern industry requirements.
● The scheme promotes industry-led training instead of government-driven training.
● Around 200 hub ITIs will support nearby spoke ITIs under a hub-and-spoke model.
● Five National Skill Training Institutes will be upgraded as centres of excellence.
● These institutes are located in Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kanpur and Ludhiana.
● Each upgraded ITI will be managed through a Special Purpose Vehicle with industry participation.
● The Directorate General of Training introduced 31 new-age courses under the Craftsmen Training Scheme.
