Piyush Goyal Launches Industrial Park Rating System (IPRS) 3.0
  • Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal launched the Industrial Park Rating System (IPRS) 3.0 in New Delhi, marking a milestone in the decade-long celebrations of the Make in India initiative.
  • Developed by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) with support from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the upgraded framework seeks to benchmark industrial parks across India, enhance competitiveness, and attract greater investment.
  • The IPRS was first piloted in 2018 to assess the quality of industrial infrastructure and upgraded to IPRS 2.0 in 2021 with improved evaluation parameters. The new edition introduces fresh criteria such as sustainability, green infrastructure, logistics connectivity, digitalisation, skill linkages, and tenant feedback, reflecting India’s growing emphasis on sustainable and smart industrial development.
  • IPRS 3.0 classifies industrial parks as Leaders, Challengers, or Aspirers, offering transparent and reliable data to investors while encouraging healthy competition among States and Union Territories. Policymakers can also use the findings to design targeted interventions for strengthening industrial ecosystems.
  • Aligned with the government’s vision under Make in India and the National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (NICDC), the system supports the development of world-class plug-and-play industrial parks.
  • It also helps states showcase best-performing parks, identify infrastructure gaps, and attract investment, thereby fostering employment generation and inclusive growth.
