NCERT’s Curriculum Overhaul: Celebrating Modern India’s Achievements
- In a major step toward modernising school education, NCERT will introduce new curriculum modules for Classes 3 to 12, focusing on India’s growing global stature in space, defence, sustainability, and history.
- These modules aim to cultivate scientific temper, patriotism, and critical thinking in students.
Additions in the Curriculum:
- Captain Shubhanshu Shukla’s Space Mission
- Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla became the first Indian astronaut on the International Space Station (ISS) as part of Axiom Mission 4.
- The module will inspire scientific curiosity and career interest in space research, aerospace, and technology.
- Related missions like Chandrayaan, Aditya-L1, and others will also be included.
Operation Sindoor
- A classified yet decisive Indian military response to protect national sovereignty.
- Students will learn the strategic, inter-ministerial, and leadership dimensions of national security.
- The module will promote awareness of India's defence capabilities and operational decision-making.
- Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment)
- Highlights India’s environmental sustainability goals.
- Teaches students about climate change, eco-friendly habits, and responsible lifestyle choices.
- Aligned with global sustainable development objectives.
Partition of India: Lessons from History
- A balanced and empathetic account of India’s 1947 Partition.
- Encourages historical understanding, emotional resilience, and national unity.
- Designed to develop students’ ability to engage with difficult historical truths thoughtfully.
Module Structure:
- For Classes 3–8: Simple, narrative-based modules (8–10 pages)
- For Classes 9–12: In-depth, analytical case-study format
- All content is designed to be interactive, contextual, and value-driven
