National Flag Day 2025
  • On 22nd July 2025, as the nation solemnly observed National Flag Day, also known as Tiranga Adoption Day, we commemorated not just the anniversary of the Indian National Flag’s adoption in 1947, but also the deeper journey of a people in pursuit of identity, unity, and sovereignty.
  • The Indian National Flag, affectionately called the Tiranga, was formally adopted by the Constituent Assembly on this day in 1947, weeks before India’s independence.
  • But its story began long before that — carried on the shoulders of freedom fighters, reformers, and dreamers who envisioned a flag that represented the spirit of India.
  • The evolution of the flag mirrors the evolution of our struggle. From Sister Nivedita’s 1904 design, infused with symbols of strength and purity, to Madam Bhikaji Cama’s revolutionary Saptarishi flag, and Annie Besant and Tilak’s Home Rule banner, each iteration echoed the aspiration for self-rule.
