Why in News?
Hyderabad-based Drogo Aerospace has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Munitions India Limited (MIL), a Defence Public Sector Undertaking (DPSU) under the Ministry of Defence, to work together on indigenous UAVs and loitering munition systems.
The MoU was signed in Pune on 4 September 2026 by Yashwanth Bonthu, Founder and CEO of Drogo Aerospace, and Kumar Vaibhav Gaur, Executive Director of MIL.
Key Highlights
- Drogo Aerospace will work on the design, development and manufacturing of UAV platforms and related empty-payload hardware.
- MIL will bring its expertise in defence munitions, explosives and warhead technologies.
- Both companies will work on integrating munitions with UAV platforms, along with safety evaluation, testing and validation.
- The partnership is aimed at strengthening India's indigenous combat-drone and loitering-munition capabilities.
Drogo Aerospace’s Indigenous Platform
The partnership builds on Drogo Aerospace’s recent test of its Delta Wing Kamikaze UAV/loitering munition platform in Hyderabad.
- Delta Wing refers to its triangular wing design.
- Kamikaze refers to a one-way attack drone designed to strike a target.
- Proposed range: Up to 1,000 km
- Proposed warhead capacity: Around 20–30 kg
- The platform is being developed with long-range defence requirements in mind.

- MIL is a Government-owned DPSU under the Ministry of Defence.

- It was created after the restructuring of the erstwhile Ordnance Factory Board (OFB) into seven separate DPSUs.
