- The proclamation, issued on August 1, also recognised the role community organisations have played in building civic engagement and cultural exchange through Independence Day celebrations.
- It noted that August 15, 2026 will mark 79 years since India gained independence from British rule in 1947.
- It pointed out that India has the largest diaspora in the world over 36 million people of Indian origin live abroad, with more than 5 million of them in the US.
- It also spoke of how Indian-Americans in Massachusetts have contributed to fields like medicine, science, technology, education, business, and public service.
