Why in News?
Lake Mead, the largest reservoir in the United States, reached a water level of 1,040.4 feet (317.1 metres) on 7 August 2026 falling below its previous record low set in 2022.

- Location: Lake Mead is located behind the Hoover Dam, on the Arizona–Nevada border.
- Water Crisis: Its decline is linked to prolonged drought, low snowfall, rising temperatures and high water consumption.
