• Japan’s leading power producer JERA has finalised its first long-term liquefied natural gas (LNG) export agreement with India’s Torrent Power, marking a major milestone in bilateral energy cooperation. The deal aims to support India’s rising electricity and industrial demand while helping Japan optimise its seasonal LNG usage.
• जापान की प्रमुख विद्युत कंपनी जेईआरए ने भारत की टोरेंट पावर के साथ अपना पहला दीर्घकालिक एलएनजी निर्यात समझौता पूरा किया है, जो दोनों देशों के बीच ऊर्जा सहयोग में एक महत्वपूर्ण उपलब्धि है। यह समझौता भारत की बढ़ती बिजली और औद्योगिक मांग को पूरा करने के साथ-साथ जापान की मौसमी एलएनजी आवश्यकताओं को संतुलित करने में मदद करेगा।
• Under the agreement, JERA will supply four LNG cargoes annually to Torrent Power for a period of ten years starting in 2027. Deliveries will be made on a delivered basis, ensuring secure and reliable fuel availability for Torrent Power’s operations across multiple regions. This marks JERA’s first-ever long-term export contract with an Indian energy company.
• समझौते के तहत जेईआरए 2027 से शुरू होकर दस वर्षों तक हर साल चार एलएनजी कार्गो टोरेंट पावर को आपूर्ति करेगी। डिलीवरी "डिलीवर्ड बेसिस" पर होगी, जिससे टोरेंट पावर के विभिन्न क्षेत्रों में संचालन के लिए सुरक्षित और विश्वसनीय ईंधन आपूर्ति सुनिश्चित होगी। यह जेईआरए का किसी भारतीय कंपनी के साथ पहला दीर्घकालिक निर्यात अनुबंध है।
• Torrent Power plans to utilise the LNG to support its 2,730 मेगावाट generating capacity. Beyond electricity production, the company will distribute LNG to households, small industries and the transportation sector. This diversified application aligns with India’s broader shift toward cleaner and more dependable energy sources.
• टोरेंट पावर इस एलएनजी का उपयोग अपनी 2,730 मेगावाट बिजली उत्पादन क्षमता को समर्थन देने के लिए करेगी। बिजली उत्पादन के अलावा कंपनी घरेलू उपभोक्ताओं, छोटे उद्योगों और परिवहन क्षेत्र में भी एलएनजी की आपूर्ति करेगी। इसका व्यापक उपयोग भारत की स्वच्छ और विश्वसनीय ऊर्जा स्रोतों की ओर बढ़ती परिवर्तन प्रक्रिया के अनुरूप है।
• JERA highlighted that Japan and India have complementary seasonal energy patterns. Japan experiences lower LNG demand during certain periods, allowing JERA to redirect cargoes to India during its high-demand summer months. This model enhances cost efficiency and supply stability for both nations, creating a balanced and mutually beneficial energy partnership.
• जेईआरए ने बताया कि जापान और भारत में ऊर्जा की मांग के मौसम भिन्न होते हैं। जापान में कुछ महीनों के दौरान एलएनजी की मांग कम रहती है, जिससे कंपनी उन्हीं अवधियों में अपनी वैश्विक आपूर्ति को भारत की गर्मियों में बढ़ी हुई मांग के अनुसार स्थानांतरित कर सकती है। यह मॉडल लागत दक्षता और आपूर्ति स्थिरता दोनों देशों के लिए मजबूत करता है और ऊर्जा साझेदारी को अधिक संतुलित व लाभकारी बनाता है।
