• The Indian Coast Guard Ship (ICGS) Adamya was commissioned at Paradip Port, Odisha, on 19 September 2025.
• It is the first of eight Adamya-class Fast Patrol Vessels (FPVs) designed and built by Goa Shipyard Limited, marking a major step in India’s drive towards Aatmanirbhar Bharat with more than 60% indigenous content.
• The vessel will operate under the ICG Region (North East) from Paradip, enhancing coastal security and maritime surveillance along the Eastern Seaboard.
• Measuring 51 metres in length and displacing 320 tons, Adamya is powered by two 3000 KW diesel engines capable of reaching speeds of up to 28 knots. It is the first FPV to feature indigenously developed Controllable Pitch Propellers and gearboxes, improving manoeuvrability and operational flexibility.
• The vessel is equipped with a 30 mm CRN 91 naval gun and two 12.7 mm remote-controlled machine guns, integrated with advanced fire control systems for precision targeting.
• It also carries state-of-the-art automation technologies, including an Integrated Bridge System, Integrated Platform Management System, and Automated Power Management, ensuring efficient operations and reduced crew workload.
• With a complement of five officers and 34 personnel, Adamya will undertake roles such as maritime patrol, search and rescue, anti-smuggling operations, and pollution response.
• Its induction strengthens India’s maritime readiness and reflects the nation’s growing self-reliance in defence shipbuilding.
