• India has finalised a $946 million sustainment agreement with the United States to support its fleet of 24 MH-60R Seahawk naval helicopters. The package aims to strengthen India’s maritime readiness, enhance naval aviation support systems, and deepen defence cooperation with the U.S. at a time of increasing strategic activity in the Indo-Pacific region.

• Finalised under the U.S. Foreign Military Sales (FMS) framework through Letters of Offer and Acceptance, the five-year package covers spare parts, support equipment, training modules, technical assistance, and repair facilities within India. These provisions will ensure higher operational availability of the helicopters for missions from shore bases and frontline warships.
• अमेरिकी फॉरेन मिलिट्री सेल्स (FMS) ढांचे के तहत लेटर ऑफ ऑफर एंड एक्सेप्टेंस (LOA) प्रक्रिया से पूरा हुआ यह पाँच-वर्षीय पैकेज स्पेयर पार्ट्स, सपोर्ट उपकरण, प्रशिक्षण मॉड्यूल, तकनीकी सहायता और भारत में रिपेयर सुविधाओं को शामिल करता है। इन प्रावधानों से तटीय अड्डों और अग्रिम पंक्ति के युद्धपोतों से मिशनों के लिए हेलीकॉप्टरों की परिचालन उपलब्धता बढ़ेगी।
• The sustainment agreement enables the Navy to conduct continuous operations such as anti-submarine warfare, maritime surveillance, humanitarian missions, and carrier-based deployments. With intermediate-level repair and inspection infrastructure being established domestically, turnaround time will reduce significantly, lowering dependence on foreign maintenance hubs.
• यह समझौता नौसेना को पनडुब्बी रोधी युद्ध संचालन, समुद्री निगरानी, मानवीय मिशन और कैरियर-आधारित तैनाती जैसे उच्च-गति वाले अभियानों को लगातार संचालित करने में सक्षम बनाएगा। भारत में ही मध्यम-स्तरीय मरम्मत और निरीक्षण सुविधाएँ विकसित होने से टर्नअराउंड समय कम होगा और विदेशी मेंटेनेंस केंद्रों पर निर्भरता घटेगी।
