Why in News?
The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for South India’s first semiconductor manufacturing facility in Vishakhapattanam. This facility is part of the India Semiconductor Mission.
About the India Semiconductor Mission
- This mission was started in 2021.
- The main goal of the India Semiconductor Mission is to build a system for making semiconductors and displays in India.
- It is controlled by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
- There are four plans that are part of the India Semiconductor Mission:
- The Semiconductor Fab Scheme
- The Display Fab Scheme
- The Compound Semiconductor and ATMP Scheme
- The Design Linked Incentive Scheme
- These plans are all part of the India Semiconductor Mission.
