Why in News?
The National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) has launched India’s first Accreditation Scheme for Mobile Food Testing Laboratories under the Integrated Assessment Programme. The initiative was launched during the ‘Gunvatta Samanvaya’ Multilateral MoU Exchange Ceremony in New Delhi.
About the Scheme
- The scheme provides a framework for accredited mobile food testing laboratories to offer reliable and quality-assured testing services closer to communities.
- It aims to strengthen food safety surveillance, enable faster regulatory action and improve consumer confidence.
- The initiative is expected to support internationally benchmarked food testing beyond conventional laboratories.
- NABL is a constituent board of the Quality Council of India (QCI).
- The event also featured a Multilateral MoU Exchange aimed at improving regulatory coordination, reducing duplication and strengthening India's quality infrastructure.
