Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh inaugurated the Centre of Excellence for Handloom Technology (CoE-HT) at IIT Delhi.

About

  • The Centre has been set up to support the handloom sector through technology and research.
  • It will work on loom modernisation, artificial intelligence, ergonomics and sustainability.
  • It will create AI-based tools and a national repository of handloom knowledge.
  • It will encourage technology transfer and support startups in the handloom sector.
  • It plans to train at least 1,000 weavers, teachers and handloom professionals over the next five years.
  • Five new initiatives were launched: Handloom 4.0 Mobile App, Handloom e-Vidya, HandloomX, Kalagriha Handloom Studio and Threads of Valour.
