- On August 14, 2025, Srinagar witnessed the launch of the mascot and logo for the inaugural Khelo India Water Sports Festival (KIWSF) 2025. The festival, scheduled from August 21 to 23, will be held on the iconic Dal Lake, making it the first-ever water sports event under the Khelo India initiative.
- Organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, in collaboration with the Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council and the Sports Authority of India (SAI), the event aims to boost sports culture while also promoting eco-tourism in the Kashmir Valley.
Mascot – The Himalayan Kingfisher:
The vibrant Himalayan Kingfisher has been chosen as the official mascot of KIWSF 2025. With its striking hues of orange and blue, the bird represents:

- Tranquility and harmony with nature
- Adventure and ecological balance
As the festival’s face, the Kingfisher embodies the spirit of water sports and underscores the balance between sports development and environmental preservation.
Logo – A Tribute to Kashmir’s Landscape:

- A traditional Shikara boat gliding on Dal Lake
- A backdrop of snow-capped mountains and pine forests
- Reflections in the water, symbolizing peace and serenity
- Integrated Khelo India colors, blending tradition, nature, and sportsmanship

- The Khelo India Water Sports Festival adds a fresh dimension to the Khelo India calendar, following the successful Khelo India Beach Games in Diu earlier this year.
