Government of India Renames NIPCCD as Savitribai Phule National Institute of Women and Child Development
  • In July two thousand twenty five, the Government of India officially renamed the National Institute of Public Cooperation and Child Development (NIPCCD) as the Savitribai Phule National Institute of Women and Child Development (SPNIWCD). The decision was announced by Union Minister Annpurna Devi, from the Ministry of Women and Child Development.
  • The name change came into effect on June nineteen, two thousand twenty five, in accordance with Sections twelve and twelve A of the Societies Registration Act, eighteen sixty.
  • The renaming is a tribute to Savitribai Phule, a nineteenth-century educationist and social reformer, symbolising the government’s commitment to women’s empowerment and child development.
  • SPNIWCD functions as the apex institution for training, research, documentation, and capacity building in the areas of women and child development. It supports various flagship government schemes.
