Government of India Launches Notary Portal for Online Notarial Services
  • The Government of India has launched the Notary Portal as a dedicated online platform to provide services related to the Notaries Act, 1952 and the Notaries Rules, 1956. Recently, the Ministry of Law and Justice informed the Rajya Sabha about its implementation.
  • The portal aims to establish an online interface between notaries appointed by the Central Government and the Government of India.

Services include:

  • Submission of applications for appointment as Notaries
  • Verification of eligibility for appointment
  • Issuance of digitally signed Certificates of Practice
  • Renewal of certificates, change of practice area, and submission of annual returns
  • Designed to be faceless, paperless, transparent, and efficient, the Notary Portal modernizes the notarial process.
  • At present, the module for document verification, eligibility checks, and issuance of digitally signed Certificates of Practice to newly appointed notaries is live.
