GeM Crosses ₹15 Lakh Crore Procurement Milestone
  • The Government e Marketplace (GeM) has achieved a historic milestone by surpassing ₹15 lakh crore in cumulative Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) since its inception in 2016.
  • This achievement underscores GeM’s pivotal role in transforming India’s public procurement ecosystem into a more transparent, efficient, and inclusive system.
  • Over the past nine years, GeM has grown into a trusted platform that connects central ministries, state governments, PSUs, and autonomous bodies with a diverse seller base, including Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs), startups, women-led businesses, SC/ST enterprises, and Self-Help Groups (SHGs). By fostering broad participation, GeM has empowered non-traditional and small sellers to enter mainstream government procurement.
  • According to GeM CEO Shri Mihir Kumar, this milestone is a “testimony to the trust of stakeholders” and reflects the platform’s innovation-driven and inclusive approach.
  • The achievement highlights India’s commitment to leveraging digital platforms for transparent governance and sustainable economic growth.
