- The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), in collaboration with the Ministry of Ayush, has launched a licensing and registration portal for Ayurveda Aahara products on its FoSCoS platform.
- Ayurveda Aahara refers to traditional foods based on Ayurvedic texts and personalised nutrition, integrated with treatment principles.
- The new framework includes a Kind of Business classification, 91 pre-approved traditional recipes (published in July 2025), and QR-code-enabled transparency for consumers.
- Manufacturers can now formally apply for licences to make and sell such products while adhering to modern food safety norms.
- The initiative supports commercialization of Ayurvedic dietary solutions, ensures quality and authenticity, and strengthens India’s Ayurveda-based food industry in line with the government’s push for evidence-based traditional practices.
