Fiji’s Prime Minister Sitiveni Ligamamada Rabuka will be on an official visit to India from August 24 to 26, 2025, marking a significant step in strengthening India’s engagement with the Pacific Island nations.
The visit, announced by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), aims to deepen bilateral cooperation across governance, development, climate action, and cultural ties.
On August 25, PM Rabuka will hold formal bilateral talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. Discussions are expected to cover a wide range of sectors including health, human resource development, climate change and ocean governance, defence and security, and digital infrastructure. PM Modi will also host a lunch in honour of the visiting leader, reflecting the importance India attaches to its partnership with Fiji.
PM Rabuka is also scheduled to meet President Droupadi Murmu, underscoring the strategic significance of high-level political engagement between the two countries.
In addition to official meetings, the Fijian Prime Minister will deliver a public lecture titled ‘Ocean of Peace’ at the Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA) in New Delhi.
The address is expected to focus on Fiji’s role in regional stability in the Indo-Pacific, maritime security, and cultural-historical ties linking India with Pacific island nations.
The visit is seen as part of India’s broader diplomatic outreach in the Indo-Pacific, reinforcing its Act East Policy and engagement with small island developing states (SIDS), while also providing Fiji with greater visibility in shaping regional peace and cooperation.
