ESIC Launches SPREE-2025 and Amnesty Scheme to Expand Social Security Coverage
  • The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has rolled out two landmark initiatives in 2025—SPREE-2025 (Scheme for Promoting Registration of Employers and Employees) and the Amnesty Scheme-2025.
  • Together, these schemes are designed to widen the social security net, simplify compliance, and reduce long-standing disputes between employers and employees.
  • Under SPREE-2025, valid until 31 December 2025, industries and workers currently outside the ESIC framework can voluntarily register through the ESI Portal, Shram Suvidha Portal, or the Ministry of Corporate Affairs Portal. Crucially, no demand for old dues will be raised at the time of registration, easing the process for employers.
  • Registered workers will immediately gain access to ESIC’s health and social security benefits, while employers are deemed covered from the date of registration or an earlier declared date.
