• The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has launched a new digital feature called ‘Passbook Lite’ on its member portal, aimed at simplifying access to provident fund details and speeding up claim settlements.
• The initiative was announced by Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya.
• EPFO, a statutory body under the Ministry of Labour and Employment, administers compulsory contributory schemes such as the provident fund, pension, and insurance for India’s workforce. The new feature is designed to provide members with faster, real-time updates on their provident fund balances, contributions, and withdrawals, thereby enhancing transparency.
• With Passbook Lite, employees can track their PF account details more efficiently, reducing the dependency on physical records and long processing times. The initiative is also expected to streamline claim settlements by providing instant verification of contributions, ensuring quicker disbursal of funds.
