Astrophel Aerospace Signs MoU with IN-SPACe for Access to ISRO Facilities

MoU to Boost Private Space Capabilities

  • Pune-based space tech startup Astrophel Aerospace has signed a framework Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Center (IN-SPACe).
  • The agreement will grant the company access to ISRO facilities for technical reviews, system-level testing, and qualification support for semi-cryogenic propulsion systems, including turbopumps and engine modules.

About IN-SPACe

  • IN-SPACe is an autonomous nodal agency under the Department of Space (DoS) set up following space sector reforms to promote and authorize private space activities in India.
  • Serving as a single-window body, it facilitates non-governmental entities (NGEs) in building satellites, launch vehicles, and providing space-based services.
  • It also enables the sharing of ISRO’s infrastructure and supports the creation of new space facilities.

Role in Strengthening Public-Private Collaboration

  • Acting as an interface between ISRO and private entities, IN-SPACe ensures optimal use of India’s space resources.
  • Through its three directorates — Promotion Directorate, Technical Directorate, and Program Management and Authorization Directorate — it assesses industry needs, supports R&D initiatives, and fosters a collaborative environment for innovation in India’s growing space sector.
