• The Union Cabinet approved the Terms of Reference (ToR) for the 8th Central Pay Commission (CPC) on 28 October 2025.
• केंद्रीय मंत्रिमंडल ने 28 अक्टूबर 2025 को 8वें केंद्रीय वेतन आयोग (CPC) के लिए संदर्भ की शर्तें (ToR) को मंजूरी दी।
• The 8th CPC is established to revise the pay structure and service conditions of Central Government employees.
• 8वें CPC की स्थापना केंद्र सरकार के कर्मचारियों की वेतन संरचना और सेवा शर्तों को संशोधित करने के लिए की गई है।
• The Commission is mandated to submit its recommendations within 18 months from the date of its constitution.
• आयोग को अपने गठन की तारीख से 18 महीनों के भीतर अपनी सिफारिशें प्रस्तुत करने का आदेश दिया गया है।
• The Commission will be a temporary body comprising a Chairperson, one Part-Time Member, and one Member-Secretary.
• आयोग एक अस्थायी निकाय होगा जिसमें एक अध्यक्ष, एक अंशकालिक सदस्य और एक सदस्य-सचिव शामिल होंगे।
• The Commission will also evaluate the financial burden of Unfunded Pension Liabilities (non-contributory pension schemes).

• Traditionally, a Pay Commission is set up every ten years to review and rationalize the salary structure.

• The 8th CPC’s recommendations are expected to take effect from 1 January 2026, following the implementation trend of the 7th CPC (2016).
