The India-EFTA Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA) is a landmark Free Trade Agreement (FTA) set for implementation from October 1, 2025, marking India’s first FTA with the developed nations of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA): Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein.

Core Commitments & Scope

  • Pioneering Agreement: TEPA is notable as the first trade agreement signed by India to include a firm investment commitment as an integral part of the pact, aiming to balance trade interests with development goals.
  • Chapters: The comprehensive agreement spans 14 chapters, covering Goods, Services, Investment Promotion, Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), and Trade and Sustainable Development.
