Tropical Deciduous forests, also known as Monsoon forests, cover approximately 60% of India's total forest area, making them the most dominant forest type. These forests are characterized by trees that shed their leaves during the dry season to conserve water. They thrive in areas receiving moderate to high rainfall (75-200 cm annually) and are found across central India, including states like Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and parts of Maharashtra. Important tree species include teak, sal, sandalwood, and bamboo.
