Why in News?
Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the 53rd PRAGATI meeting at Seva Teerth on 25 August 2026. The meeting reviewed six major infrastructure projects in the Railway, Road and Power sectors, along with issues related to AgriStack, digital agriculture and cyber fraud.
Key Highlights
- The six infrastructure projects reviewed during the meeting span nine States and involve a cumulative investment of more than ₹30,000 crore. The Prime Minister stressed the importance of timely completion, effective coordination among agencies and the prompt resolution of pending issues.
- He emphasised that infrastructure projects should be planned and monitored as an integrated whole rather than as separate sections or packages. He also called for a more proactive approach by Ministries and State Governments and encouraged the exploration of common utility corridors for infrastructure services wherever technically and economically feasible.
- PM Modi further stressed that speed of execution must be accompanied by quality. He called for the adoption of modern technologies and stronger quality assurance and supervision at every stage of project implementation.
- During the review of AgriStack under the Digital Agriculture Mission, the Prime Minister highlighted the need to make greater use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and other digital technologies to derive more value from agricultural data. He called for effective use of this data across the agricultural value chain, from input planning to processing, to support better decision-making and improve outcomes for farmers.
