‘Kaho Kalidasa!’, a novel written by Yugul Joshi and published by Manjul Publishing House, was launched at the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), New Delhi.
About the Book
The novel explores the life, works and creative world of the classical Sanskrit poet Kalidasa. Since limited authentic information is available about Kalidasa’s personal life, the book uses his literary works to explore his personality, thoughts, emotions and creative sensibilities.

The book deals with themes such as love, separation, responsibility, nature and human emotions. It also examines the portrayal of women in Kalidasa’s works and the deeper ideas associated with his female characters.
Focus on Women in Kalidasa’s Works
At the book launch, Union Minister for Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said that women in Kalidasa’s writings are not merely presented as objects of beauty. They are portrayed as figures representing consciousness, dignity and love.
